Computational Mathematics

As simulation is now widely accepted as the third pillar of science, the development of innovative mathematical concepts and approaches to optimise the use of modern computer architectures  is essential to solve the world's most challenging problems. In this sense, Computational Mathematics at EMCL is dedicated to cutting-edge mathematical research in areas of science where computation plays a central and vital role including medical engineering and environmental sciences.

Currently, the following research themes are pursued:

  • Mathematical modelling
  • Numerical simulation and scientific computing
  • Optimal control and optimisation for partial differential equations
  • Data assimilation
