Short Biography

Vincent Heuveline (born 1968) studied Mathematics, Physics and Computer Science at the Universities of Caen (France) and Würzburg (Germany). He received his PhD in Computer Science in 1997 from the Université de Rennes and INRIA (Institut National de Recherche en Informatique et Automatique) and habilitated in Mathematics at Heidelberg University in 2002. Since 2004, he was a professor at Karlsruhe University and KIT until he moved to Heidelberg in May 2013. Besides his professorship at IWR, Vincent Heuveline is also Chief Information Officer (CIO) and  Director of the Computing Center of Heidelberg University. He is also the leader of the research group Data Mining and Uncertainty Quantification (DMQ) at HITS gGmbH.

Research Interests

His research interests include uncertainty quantification (UQ) in scientific computing, high performance and data intensive computing, and software engineering, with main application focuses in medical engineering. Besides lectures in scientific computing, he is strongly involved in teaching IT security - with both lectures and dedicated seminars - at Heidelberg University. He serves as a program committee member of several international conferences on high performance and scientific computing. He is widely consulted by the industry with respect to the deployment of numerical simulation, cloud computing and IT security in industrial environments.
