NCT Anniversary Celebration "22plusFuture"

May 13th, 2026 – NCT Heidelberg

On May 13th, the National Center for Tumor Diseases (NCT) Heidelberg celebrated its 22nd anniversary with an event that welcomed 400 guests and seamlessly combined festivities and scientific exchange. The program opened with welcome remarks and a scientific keynote, highlighting NCT’s mission and milestones, followed by an interactive exhibition featuring 30 “points of interest”.

Thanks to our ongoing collaboration with the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ), the EMCL was featured among the exhibition showcases with our project “Digital Prostate Cancer Twin”. Our stand offered an immersive look at ongoing research, featuring a poster presentation, an interactive data dashboard, and a hands-on demonstration using augmented reality glasses. Isabel Gernand and Valentin Schmid gave insights into their current work, aiming to advance personalized prostate cancer care through the development of partial differential equations models that simulate lesion and prostate growth over time by integrating multimodal clinical data, complemented by machine learning approaches to support tailored treatment planning.
