Internal Training Program: “YoKI Workshop / tutorial on LLMs: The correct use of open source language models using the YoKI platform as an example“

June 24th, 2025 - Heidelberg

As part of the internal training program of the University of Heidelberg, the EMCL organized a YoKI Workshop on proper handling of open-source language models using its new on-premise AI platform, YoKI. Aimed at researchers, students, and staff, the event covers fundamental AI concepts—language transformers, and natural language processing—alongside practical LLM interaction and prompt engineering techniques.

Participants were introduced to YoKI’s data-sovereign architecture, delve into model limitations and hallucinations, and discuss the legal, ethical, and privacy implications of AI. The agenda also highlights emerging trends and potential impacts of generative language models on society, education, and research. The workshop features expert insights from Prof. Dr. Vincent Heuveline (URZ, EMCL) and M.Sc. Marcus Buchwald (EMCL).
