At the IWR After Research Event the Marcus Buchwald presented his research in collaboration with the Mannheim Institute for intelligent Systems in Medicine. The event was being held on May 16, 2024 and included presentations of member groups of the Interdisciplinary Center for Scientific Computing about their current research. 

The presentation “LeMeDaRT Lean Medical Data: the Right Data at the Right Time” presented the AI-based modeling aspect of a collaborative BMFB project, which aim is to develop a digital reach-out hub for combining data analysis using ML approaches with modern medicine in three relevant use cases. The poster presentation presented the modeling and current status of all three use cases, namely prehabilitation of oncological patients, early detection of liver diseases, and infection surveillance for respiratory diseases. 

The poster highlighted the benefit of AI models, namely Bayesian Neural Networks and Tree bases machine learning approaches for the analysis of the large datasets acquired in clinics which have a medical focus on these use cases.

The IWR After Research Event can be viewed as strengthening collaborations of existing group alliances in the IWR as well as exploring new potential collaboration projects with other groups of the same institute.
