Student Cluster Competition, Frankfurt, Germany, 25th to 27th June 2018
From 25th to 27th June 2018, the Student Cluster Competition (SCC 2018) took place at the ISC High Performance computer forum in Frankfurt, Germany.
Teams applications were sent from all over the world for participating in this competition. Only the top twelve teams selected and among them was Heidelberg University. With sponsorship from hardware and software vendor partners, student teams design and build small clusters, learn designated scientific applications, apply optimization techniques for their chosen architectures, and compete in a non-stop, 48-hour challenge at the SC conference to complete a real-world scientific workload, showing off their HPC knowledge for conference attendees and judges.
EMCL was present at the SCC 2018 and strongly involved in supervising the Heidelberg Team, by contributing in topics such as deep learning and power monitoring thanks to Philipp Lösel and Sotirios Nikas.
