On 9-11 July 2017, EMCL represented by Vincent Heuveline and Chen Song were at the Northeast Electric Power University (NEEPU) in Jilin, China in order to start a corresponding Sino-German cooperation. This visit is supported by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) and National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC).

The four days stay is organized by Prof. Jiawei Zhang (NEEPU). Prof. Dr. Vincent Heuveline and Chen Song had the opportunity to visit his research group and discuss intensively with his staff about different topics in the area of energy research. Based on these discussions, a first research agenda leading to a cooperation has been defined.

Prof. Dr. Vincent Heuveline and Chen Song had then the opportunity to present in a larger audience their activities in energy research with strong emphasise in Uncertainty Quantification (UQ). At the end of his talk Prof. Heuveline congratulated Prof. Mu (NEEPU) for his award obtained from the National Office for Science and Technology Awards of China. This highly recognized prize corresponds to the one of the highest awards for research in China. The intensive discussion after these presentations was followed by a brainstorming with the Junior Professors of the department of Electrical Engineering.

A further highlight of the stay at NEEPU was a meeting with the President of the University, where further strategic aspects of the cooperation could be discussed in more details.

Prof. Dr. Vincent Heuveline and Chen Song strongly appreciate the warm and friendly welcome of the colleges at NEEPU. A Chinese press release is found under the following link.
