Strengthen Your Defense: Explore The World of IT-Security
The field of IT-security has evolved rapidly in recent years. Cyberattacks are getting more elaborate and causing more damage than ever. Thus, proper techniques need to be employed to detect and prevent malicious actors from attacking the digital infrastructure.
What We Are Doing to Improve The IT-Security
In addition to these core competencies, we integrate a broad range of technologies and methodologies to enhance both our research and our teaching. This includes evaluating the application of Machine Learning and Large Language Models in IT security, as well as providing our students with a dedicated CTF platform. The platform enables them to sharpen their pentesting skills and to engage with lecture content in a hands-on, practice-oriented way.

A list of past IT-Security lectures offered is available here.
Practicals &Theses
Besides lectures, we offer students the possibility to complete practicals or to write theses in collaboration with our group.
Below you can find our current practical and thesis topics and the templates necessary for a formal application.
Certifications
Students can apply for an official certification (e.g. SEC100, PEN200, PEN300 from offsec). Therefor, it is strongly recommended to complete the lectures IT-Security 1 – 3 and the advanced or master’s practical first. Applications should include a motivational letter and a summary of the completed lectures and practicals in IT-Security (including grades) and need to be send to Stefan Machmeier or Maximilian Ludwig.
